
Technical Specifications for Installing Underfloor Heating Staples
The correct installation of underfloor heating staples is a key factor in maintaining stable pipe positioning, ensuring uniform heat distribution, and improving the long-term reliability of the heating system. Improper staple installation may cause pipe displacement, uneven heating, or damage to the insulation layer.
Preparation Before Installation
Before fixing the heating pipes, the insulation board surface should be clean, flat, and free from debris. The installer should confirm that the insulation layer thickness, pipe layout, and spacing meet the design requirements.
The heating pipe should be installed according to the planned circuit route. Avoid excessive bending, twisting, or forced adjustment of the pipe, as this may affect water flow and service life.
Staple Spacing Requirements
The spacing of underfloor heating staples should be selected according to the pipe diameter, pipe material, and installation environment. In general, staple spacing should be controlled within 300–500mm on straight pipe sections to maintain stable fixation.
For curved sections, pipe turning areas, and areas near manifolds, the staple spacing should be reduced to improve pipe stability. Additional staples should be installed at bends to prevent the pipe from lifting or shifting during concrete pouring.
Correct Installation Method
During installation, staples should be pressed vertically into the insulation board to ensure even fixing force. The staple should firmly hold the heating pipe without excessive pressure that could damage the pipe surface.
The heating pipe should remain close to the insulation board surface, and the staple depth should be appropriate to prevent loose fixing. If using a staple gun, the pressure should be adjusted according to the insulation board density to avoid incomplete penetration or excessive impact.
Quality Control Requirements
After staple installation, the entire heating circuit should be inspected to ensure that:
The pipe layout remains consistent with the design drawing.
Staples are firmly fixed without looseness or deformation.
Pipe spacing is uniform and no floating sections appear.
The insulation layer is not seriously damaged.
Before concrete screed construction, a pressure test should be performed according to system requirements to confirm that the heating pipes and connections are leak-free.
Common Installation Problems
Incorrect staple selection or installation may result in pipe movement, insufficient heat transfer, or damage during floor construction. Common issues include insufficient staple quantity, uneven spacing, improper staple length, and excessive force during fixing.
Using high-quality plastic staples with good toughness and aging resistance can improve installation reliability and ensure stable operation throughout the heating system’s service life.
